Our First Loyalty

The beginning of a new year is a good time to consider our compelling — and sometimes competing — loyalties. Our first loyalty must always be to our loving Creator. “You shall have no other gods before me,” says the first commandment (Exodus 20:3, NRSV). Although other loyalties are important (family, country, work), God is the top priority.

The brilliant Christian statesman Thomas More tried to serve King Henry VIII well. But when the tyrant king made unethical demands on More that conflicted with God’s standards, More refused to obey.
The terrible consequence was More’s beheading. In 1535, just before the sharp blade fell on his neck, More proclaimed, “The king’s good servant, but God’s first.”

Determining God's will

Sometimes we’re in a quandary about God’s plan for our lives. For example, one young man felt led to enter the forestry service because God needs people to protect and care for his creation.

The man worked in a forest for six months and was fascinated by nature’s beauty. But he was dreadfully lonely. Only as he worshiped with others on Sundays did he feel at ease. When the man enrolled in a seminary, he immediately found his comfort zone. Today he’s a minister and loves serving God through the church.

God’s will is evident when we feel fulfilled and joyous in our vocation. That’s what God desires for each of us as we serve him.

Good Monday Beautifuls!!!

I wanted to say thank you for your effort and orders the last two months, we are moving up and going to start rocking it as a team!! :) Thank you for making me your Star Team Builder!!

I miss you all and even though I haven't got to see or talk business with you all, I don't want us to feel like we aren't supporting eachother! Let's start our conversation today with "What are your 1st week of May goals? Personal, People, Household, and MK?"

My Personal goal:

to be in God's word and my bible study daily.

My People goal:

plan Mother's day lunch, a movie night and dinner with a friend

Household goal:

pick my dandilions in the front yard, keep up on laundry and plan meals

MK goal: *ugh* here it goes, this is a scarey one! from bareling running at idle to full speed ahead!

I plan to contect with 10 people each day, book 3 apt each week- in order to complete my month of May goal: Grand Slam & Gold Medal!!!

Anyone else have a few goals they are working toward this week? They don't have to look anything like mine, cuz they are your own! :)

Do you know what you really want? Yesterday, I made a list of what my perfect day would look like. It doesn't quite match up with my current schedule, but now that I have it down on paper - I want it even more! What does your perfect day look like? I can honestly say that I don't know where April went, but yet I don't want to do it over! :) I am so excited that May 2010 is here, and am looking forward to pushing us all toward what we really want!

But in the early 60's this opportunity was not avaliable simply because they were in the wrong body. Don't get a break? take one! I am slllllllooooooowwwwwllllllyyyy learning this one. We each need breaks to clear our heads, sometimes in the middle of large projects and sometimes in between the projects. Take a break, drink some water and make a couple calls. What would happen if?

Deadlines Loom

It seems that there is nothing better than a deadline that I like to push to it's limits.

I have done this since I was a kid. In school, at work & at home I have always been one to push the deadline down to it's smallest point of workability. But this time I think I really messed up.

Setting goals at the beginning of the year to have certain Ribbons and On Stage Recognition at Career Conference now seem like a thing of the past. So much has (and hasn't!) happened over the last two months, that now I am looking at my desktop countdown for the Feb 28th deadline & wondering what to do now, with the rest of my 6 days.

However, just because some of those deadlines aren't possible not to make a reality didn't stop me from registering my husband and myself to go to the Denver Career Conference. However, they almost did. I am really not looking forward to going and sitting the entire time for a few years in a row. Oh!! how I want to walk on stage - and now even more that David is coming along.

Giving myself the normal excuses to justify my knowledge with lack of action, I know that I can't let those sorry reasons stand. It's not that hard, my team can do it - so can I. I really do enjoy it and I can fit it into my schedule, mainly because since it's MY business I can decide what goals I am going for. However, just last night in my Deeper Still bible study, I realized what the true underlying reason was this time. And now that I am aware, I am ready to take a step forward to work through it. Not around it, but through it.

I am going forward to growing forward with my growing team & showing them that I have been through all of the stages of this business, and there is certain success at the end of this road.

It's been a while since I've posted anything, I apologize for that. I do want to write regularly, not only for my readers, but also for me - I know I function better when I get some thoughts out and written. :) I hope you haven't missed me too much, and hope you all have had a fabulous Christmas and New Year!

It's also been a while that I have had this feeling.... nervousness, anxiety about my business and my future. It's not a bad feeling, it's like a calm before the storm; I know good things are coming. I expect good things to come, and I can't wait for all of these good things. :) But I will.... I will be patient and let all things come on it's own time and through my hard work.

Trying to think of a better way to explain how I am feeling... it's kinda like this picture to the left? It is a shot taking off the old roller coaster that used to run around the top of the Vegas hotel the Stratosphere. The ride is no longer there or operating, however I did have the opportunity to ride this coaster on my first trip to Vegas in 2003. And I took it!!! It was an awesome (quick) ride, and my boyfriend then (husband now) made me ride on the outside seat! LOL

Kinda makes me think of the ups and downs of this business, if I didn't even bat a perfectly mascaraed eyelash at one of the most dangerous, regularly breaking down roller coasters placed too! high, like 800 ft above the Las Vegas strip, and scary enough that my boyfriend wants the inside seat... then why is it that the phone, customers, being a STAR, winning a Car and Directorship can scare me?

Although it might not be the only answer.... all I can think of now - is because while on top of the Stratosphere- I didn't think, I didn't over analyze, I just agreed yep do I want to do that (someone else purchased the tickets, Thanks Carl!! (David's Dad)) and poof we were in a small line waiting to get on that ride! It really wasn't a well thought out planned out plan, we just did it. We lived. I want that living feeling again, I want that "Yep, I want that" decision. I'm willing to purchase my ticket and stand in line, are you?

Self - Confidence

When I think of self-confidence I think of anyone else but me. :) It is something that I have always struggled as far back as I can remember. One think that always helps me feel better about who I am becomeing, is helping someone else.

Today my MK Calendar says : "When a woman with a negative self-images comes to feel good about herself, she changes into a different person. The woman who yse Mary Kay cosmetics undergo this same transformation. Again and again, the woman who knows she looks good starts feeling better about herself."

This is just one of the reasons that I love this business. I get to help people feel better about themselves. I get to help woman with skincare. Skincare is so important to feeling beautiful, feeling your worth and improving your self image. And it turns out tons of women like to get help on beauty, guess what? I love! helping out with that one too! I also get to help men with skincare and giving them the ease of MY WAY shopping (special gifts, personalized and wrapped).

Do you know anyone that might not have a strong sence of self confidence? Wanna improve their self worth? Do you like seeing them light up, when they are filled up with love? Share them with me and I won't let you down. Maybe it's you? Maybe you are a lot like me and don't think of yourself as having a lot of self confidence, you don't have to tell me that, just contact me, let's hang out together and see if we can't help eachother in love.

And I also can't leave without saying that I don't believe that self confidance is only built by self. If it was, no matter how hard we'd try- it would keep turning out terrible OR over grow like a weed. I believe confidance is built by God, when we start believing that we are who God says we are. I am trying, I am ready and "I can do all things through Christ who strengths me." Philippians 4:13

One Step Forward : Two Steps Back

Ok Lord - protect me from the cancellation demon! I am trying so hard to not be knocked down this week, shield me from the world's negativity and sludge!

Not quite a Psalm of David, but I know that God will hear me just the same. So far, of my 7 faces I had booked walking into this week, 5 of them have cancelled or jumped ship. But that's ok, I understand that everyone, including myself have busy lives, and sometimes appointments just don't work out. So, I will pick up my appointment book back out of the gutter and start RE-booking these cancellations, because I still need them for my monthly goals and they still need me for thier beauty and skin care! And I will continue booking out my list and not stop after a week is booked! I will not be still until I have four weeks booked! I want night blindness and not snow blindness!!! (MK girls will get that one!)

This is the perfect learning example of why we book 5 to hold 3 (well one I guess, this week at least) - but it also shows me that I still have some booking/coaching language work to do. :) And that's a good thing to learn this early in the game!!! Because it is my duty to get my wrold famous, tried and tested, fabulous products in the hands of people with skin.....

Today - May 29th on my MK desk calendar says: The funny thing is, I'm exactly like you. There's no difference. Sometimes you see me at Seminar with those pretty gowns and jewelry and all that business, but that's not really me. The real me is out planting pansies and doing the shopping.

Something like that is so good to hear, as I am overloaded with life. That Mary Kay Ash, the founder and genius of my business is just like me - she felt these things too. She wanted to pull her hair out every once in a while too! Do you think she pulled out more than she lead on, beings that she wore wigs so much?

Work Starts at Home!

Today, I made 6 of the 11 calls that I wrote down to make. I am ok with that, since I was able to fit them in with other things that where planned today. And honestly, I was pretty scared to get started today, felt some strong anxiety!!! But started with a lady that had wrote me an email yesterday, so I called her back today- and booked a selling appointment for tomorrow after work!!! For the second call the anxiety was still there, but it was melting fast. :) Tomorrow I will work on the other 5 calls & re-call the 2 that I left messages for today.

Of the 4 ladies that I was able to talk to tonight, I have one sales appointment for tomorrow, a interview booked for Saturday at 10am (tenative for her, but will that work for you?), two guest for next Tuesday's Unit & going out as friends Friday night, which I will invite her over early for a facial and to try new colors. :)

It may not be the moon, but I feel like I made it to the stars today! :) I also listened to a Juice Plus training call about making solid goals for the new year & it had a lot of good questions, that I plan to blog on tomorrow. :)

Abunance Challenge

Abunance challenge: to listen to myself talk about what I have acomplished this year 2009. Kinda hard to think of something great to say in only a minute, but I think that it will work well. Since I can't attach that file, here is what I was thinking.

My 2009 achomplishments are as follows:
I have taken my MK business to next level, worked consistantly earning extra $500 of income for family, earned G6 in July by team building with a wonderful group of powerful and teachable woman that are interested in driving for free as well as leadership in Mk. Extra money was also earned for a Bday party for David and we got to go to Vegas as well.
There has also been a full change in health for body and mind, I have lost 50lb this year, feeling healthy and energized. David and I both look and feel great about being healthy- instead of being normal and fat like everyone else. We work out 5 times a week and eat many fruits and veggies a day. In our quest of getting healthier, we have also been able to share Juice Plus with many people, changing thier lives and health for the better. Our best month was 10 lives changed, our normal is 3 to 5 a month. It feels great to share JP with people and see thier health and lifestyle change for the better. This has brought in extra money, we spend on concerts and rodeos.
Our budget this year has been well controled, but it has worked well for us. We are 3,000 from completely paying off our ridiculous credit card debt that we started paying down a year and a half ago. With the next turn of cows we'll have it paid off as well as money in our pockets! Our 2009 tax return in April 2010 will also be ours, instead of paying bills with it. We are looking forward to using that on our trip to Europe. With our finances in control and the housing market recovering, we are finally ready to plan a family, as well as shop around for farm property.
2009 has been a fast moving year, with many great accomplishments! We got here by dreaming a dream, creating a plan, and working the plan. In 2010 we will be debt free, living in abundance and on to our next financial peace university baby step as well as planning for Jennifer's Directorship in Mary Kay, as well as looking at what David has in his new career options.

Living a Legacy

My mentor sent me this in part of an email this weekend:
"In this life, it is important to live, love, learn, and 'leave a legacy.' When you work with women who you are mentoring, assisting, loving, and teaching, you are leaving a legacy. This speaks to what will be here when we are long gone. You are on your way and proud of you."

It made me start thinking about the word legacy.
The word is defided as:
1. Money or property bequeathed to another by will.
2. Something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past: a legacy of religious freedom. See synonyms at heritage.

I don't know if money or property is what I think about when I think legacy, I think ideas, thoughts, actions. Living a legacy is important, it means that we care about others & those coming after us. I do want to have a legacy a great one! :) I want people to pass on, how I make them feel and what they have learned from me. What a great feeling, to think of that ripple effect that we can have in other people's lives.

Taking a day off

YEAH! I get to take a day off of my JOB & go spending it hanging out with my Director & my National! :) Wha-ho! I can't wait- but yet this week I have been slacking at the JOB- better get to work.!

Team Meeting

Last Friday, I had the great opportunity to meet with my team. It's always great to meet and to connect with the great people that support you and will push you to the top. It's also great to know how to help them reach thier goals and be able to part of thier journey as well.

My new Nov and Dec goals are a perfect start and Red Jacket by Dec 31st- when I complete these goals I will be able to train at Suzzanne Brothers home!!! I am so excited, it's great to be able to plan time to learn from one of the greats of the Mary Kay company. And to have the chance to train and even be in her home. :) This is coming at such a great time, I can taste RED- I want RED. I will be able to achive RED; I want to be able to help to help other woman make and create thier dreams! or at least be able to cover thier bills- everything is getting harder for everyone & I want to be able to help.

I hear about focus and tracking all the time. I hear about daily tasks are what accomplish month, even years of goals. I hear about activity, action and doing. I hear, but I haven't listened.

I have heard of making the decisions; creating your whys and even life changing crisis. I have heard of motivation, staying positive and creating your dream life. I have heard, but I never listend.

I have planned, annalized and studied the hows, whens and whys. I understand the process, I know a few whos. I know this is a challenge, something I want.

But who has ever said a want is less important than a need?
